Visiting specialists

Ollie is a European specialist in equine surgery and orthopedics and has worked closely with the Phoenix Equine team for many years. He holds the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons RCVS certificate in equine surgery and is a diplomate of the European College of Veterinary Surgeons and a European recognised specialist in equine surgery. Ollie's particular interests are in minimally invasive, orthopaedic and colic surgery and he has published papers on arthroscopy and suspensory ligament disease in the horse.

Dicky is a diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine and a Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS Recognised Specialist in Equine Internal Medicine). His specialty covers all types of medical cases, with specific interest in gastroenterology, neurology and intensive care.

Henry is an RCVS specialist in equine surgery and dentistry and his particular interests are upper airway surgery, maxillofacial surgery and dentistry. He has published widely in these fields, and lectured and taught at conferences and courses around the world.

Jim is an RCVS specialist in veterinary ophthalmology and regularly visits the practice to examine complicated equine ophthalmic cases and to carry out specialist surgery. Jim taught and saw referral cases at Bristol University for several years before moving to Devon and opening his own specialist ophthalmology referral practice.

Chris has considerable experience in equine dentistry at all levels. He has post-graduate qualifications in internal medicine and surgery and was the first vet in the UK to also qualify as an equine dental technician (EDT) in 2001. Chris teaches, lectures and examines widely on equine dentistry in the UK and worldwide. Chris is dedicated to advancing the science of equine dentistry and is particularly interested in novel restorative and preservative treatments.
